26 Jul CAIA: MAV Selects at Audiophile Paradise in Notting Hill
Our relationship with Tim Laing has been a long and fruitful one. We first started working on his sites, which include Giant Robot and the inimitable Dinerama, ten years ago, and he has consistently trusted us to provide premium Music Solutions for his sites. The latest of these is Caia, a new wine bar, open fire restaurant and music venue in Notting Hill, with a focus on listening to music across multiple genres. The six-figure soundsystem means optimal listening clarity, and the focus on vinyl means that every selected song is enjoyed to its fullest. This, along with lush lighting, dark woods and retro fittings, makes Caia the sociable living room of your dreams.
Caia has a focus on a carefully curated wine list with selections from around the world, and the beautifully cooked food is designed to match the drink, and, they remind us, to be tasty first and foremost. It includes hits such as rolled lamb belly, monkfish and octopus with burnt pepper, which all have an open-fire deliciousness and smokiness running through them.
When DJs are not providing custom vibes in the vinyl space, MAV have created a number of scintillating playlists to tantalise eardrums and fit in with the Caia musical ethos, namely playing songs that you have “always loved and will never forget.” To these ends, the music is eclectic, ranging from psychedelic early rock numbers, to reggae heart-warmers and Brazilian soul. All the music has a warmth, a celebratory aspect, and a focus on elite musicianship, and it really is a pleasure for a music curator to do the music for bars and restaurants like Caia, that love great sounds.
